Fountain

A thesis.

Phones look at you.
Fountain looks with you.

Fountain is a small, considered object. You wear one version on your body. You set the other on a desk. Together they form an ambient AI — projecting useful intelligence into the world where you actually live, instead of pulling you back into a phone.

A turn arrow on your handlebars when you're somewhere new. The freshness of an avocado, on the avocado. A doorbell on a door without one. A meeting on the table you're already sitting at.

The system.

One Fountain.
Wherever you go.

The pen is the oldest tool of thought. Every author, designer, and inventor who shaped the world held one. Fountain is, first, that pen — and we're giving it sight, sound, and intelligence so the next generation of makers can think further with it.

Carry it with you. Set it on your desk and it becomes a Stand. One pen, two postures, one ambient mind — projected into the world where you're already working. No app. No mode. The page, the table, the wall — whatever's in front of you is the interface.

And it still writes. Real ink on real paper. Ask it how to spell a word and the letters appear on the page beneath your hand. The intelligence is optional. The ink is always there.

Why beauty.

Why we made
it beautiful.

Most AI hardware is a black plastic puck. It works, but it doesn't belong — not in your hand, not on your desk, not in your life.

AI is moving close to us. Onto our bodies. Into our homes. Beside the people we love. The objects we let in that near have to earn it — the way a wedding ring earns it, or a reading lamp, or a favorite coat. They stay because we want them to.

Fountain will join that company or it won't ship. Materials that age well. Weight that feels intentional. A finish that asks to be touched. Beauty, for us, isn't decoration — it's how a thing earns the right to stay close.

Pen + Stand.

The numbers we're
aiming at.

We're not building hardware yet. These are the targets we'd aim at — what the technology of the next few years could make possible.

  • 50 200 TOPS on-device neural engine
  • 16 32 GB unified memory
  • 30 80 ANSI lm pico-projection
  • 4 12 B params on-device foundation model
  • Camera 4 – 8 MP RGB-D · LiDAR on Stand
  • Microphones 3 – 6 mic beamforming · spatial audio
  • Storage 256 GB – 1 TB on-device
  • Connectivity Wi-Fi 7 · Bluetooth 6 · UWB · Thread · Matter
  • Charging Magnetic wireless on Pen · USB-C puck on Stand
  • Materials Machined aluminum · sapphire lens · optical-grade glass
  • Form 18 g · IP54 (Pen) · 14 × 4 cm (Stand)

Privacy-first. All sensitive inference happens on-device. End-to-end encrypted sync between Pen and Stand. No data leaves the device without explicit consent. Local-first by design.

Where we are.

In research,
and listening.

Fountain is in research and prototyping. We're not selling anything. We're building a thesis about what AI hardware should feel like, and learning what it would take to bring it into the world.
